Submission Info:

Submission Deadline: March 17th, 2024

Shortlisted Announcement: April 31st, 2024

Requirements:

Each school can only submit up to 2 films in each category. Each film can only be worked on by a group of 5 students maximum (not including actors/actresses). 

​

Duration: All films should be 10 minutes or below. 

 

Music: The use of copyrighted music is allowed, but the film will not be considered for Original Music Award. 

 

Stock Footage: Films containing stock footage will not be accepted to maintain originality. 

​

Generative AI: Films created with the help of generative AI are not allowed to promote human creativity. 

Language: All languages are accepted; however, non-English films must be accompanied by English subtitles.  

 

Participation: All stages of production must be done entirely by students and students only; however, adults can assist in supporting acting roles (they will not be eligible for the Acting Role Awards).

 

Submission Platform: All entries should be submitted through FilmFreeway (link in footer) to streamline the process.

Participants must be proactive about this project because there is a limit of 150 films our team is allowing. Opportunity to be included and judged is on a first-come-first-serve basis. 

Content Guidelines

The student film must NOT:

​

  1. Damage the environment  

  2. Glamorize the taking of drugs  

  3. Inappropriately reference socially taboo subjects  

  4. Incite or condone intolerance or hatred of others  

  5. Include excessive or gratuitous violence  

  6. Make reference to, or represent, explicit sexual activity. 

  7. Include"situational branding" (Avoid highlighting product logos, brand names, etc. -- accidents will not be punished, but preventive measures are heavily encouraged)

**Any project that blatantly violates any of these rules, including in Requirements, will be disqualified, retroactively rescind awards, or disqualification of future film festivals hosted by Chroma Studio.

This film festival is open to all students currently enrolled in a high school who are interested in film, whether in local, bilingual or international schools within Shanghai. Participants are free to submit their works to multiple genres to maximize their opportunities (detailed guidelines regarding this are covered in the Genres section).
